Why is it that liberals are wrong on every issue?

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Why is it that liberals are wrong on every issue, yet insist that they are only being "open minded." Isn’t it better to have morals/convictions/beliefs than to be all "every thing’s ok, I’m open to new ideas, believe what’s true to you." How come they preach individuality, and yet want to turn the US into a communist state? how come they can’t rationalize anything? Why do they avoid a direct answer to any question? Why do they think free speech is so great? Look where it’s gotten them. Why do they think that the definition of conservative is "George W Bush"? Why will most of the liberals "answering" this question only rant about how I’m a closed minded bigot, and not really answer anything? Why don’t we just shoot them all?

Start poppin em and I’ll drag em to hell.

Is there an actual definition of Chriliban?

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I’ve just finished reading a comment to an article that used this word several times. "…you Chriliban regularly poison these kids with disinformation and propaganda. He was not criticizing the student, he was criticizing the Chriliban propagandists".

In general the author was ranting and made no sence to me what-so-ever, but I was still wondering if there is such a word as Chriliban?
Holly – You’ve only copied part of another rant from the same individual that prompted my question.

It’s a very recent coinage as a pejorative term combining "Christian" and "Taliban" (i.e. fundamentalist Christians whose methods in promoting/enforcing their views are portrayed as akin to those of the Taliban – particularly in their downer on the rights of women).

Pachelbel Canon in D: High Definition Video (HD)

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Digitally remastered and recut by the Directors for youtube’s new wide screen format.
Johann Pachelbel’s beautiful interweaving of melody & harmony–one of the great works of music!
Soundtrack at
http://tinyurl.com/PachelbelVideo
Performed on original instruments by Voices of Music. Featuring Katherine Kyme, Carla Moore & Cynthia Freivogel, baroque violin; Tanya Tomkins, baroque cello, Hanneke van Proosdij, baroque organ; David Tayler, theorbo.
About the performance: the canon is played using not only the instruments but also the bowing techniques from the time of Pachelbel. As you can see from the video, especially if you look at the high definition version, the string instruments are not only baroque, but they are in baroque setup: this means that the strings, fingerboard, bridge and other parts of the violin appear just as they did in Pachelbel’s time. No metal hardware such as chinrests, clamps or fine tuners are used on the violins, allowing the violins to vibrate freely. A good example of baroque bowing can be seen in the extended passage of repeated notes: the musicians play these notes on one bow—the shorter & lighter baroque bow—to created a gliding effect. The players also hold the bow very differently which affects the balance and touch. Both the style and the amount of vibrato are based on baroque treatises which describe the methods for playing, bowing & articulation in the late 17th century. The narrow, shimmering vibrato blends with the baroque organ. The organ used is made entirely of wood, based on German baroque instruments, and the pipes are voiced to provide a smooth accompaniment to the strings, instead of a more soloistic sound. The large bass lute, or theorbo, provides a complement to the organ not only in the texture of the chords but also the long strings which occasionally sound the bass notes an octave lower. The continuo players play supporting chords and voices to the canon, carefully avoiding parallels and doublings of the parts.
Another feature of the video is the subtle differences in not only the sound and color of the instruments, but also the different techniques of the players. All three are playing baroque violins with baroque bows, yet each person has her own distinct sound and bowing style—each bow has a different shape and balance. If you look at paintings of 17th century players you will see that they are all different, because that individuality of sound and technique was highly valued. This allows the players and the listeners to hear and appreciate the “Voices of Music.”

Why do people have such shameless double standards?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

One of my friends was ranting about "anchor babies". His family has been in the US for three generations as his father emigrated from Czechoslovakia. His grandmother fits the definition of anchor baby to the letter. I pointed this out to him and he was like, "No! That was different."

How does that work?

Because times change.

Price. Yes, HD-DVD players were cheaper than Blu-Ray players, but was that a GOOD thing? I say no. Find out why…

Blu-Ray kicked HD-DVDs in weekly sales from Feb 2007 until the end of the format war. Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the charts! And I’ll even throw in a few notable events from the timeline so you know what was happening when those charts originally came out…

HD-DVD was pretty much DOOMED from the start. The evidence was there for anyone who cared to LOOK at it. So why the heck did so many people think it was going to win? Based on WHAT, exactly? We’ll probably never know…

Does cloning other people and getting your account suspended over and over constitute "trolling"?

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

There seems to be some confusion over the definition. Certainly, anyone who just posts abusive, misogynistic rants is a troll, as is anyone who posts fake "questions", but are there other types of trolling? If a person keeps getting his/her account deleted due to namecalling or violating community guidelines, aren’t they also a troll? What about those people who clone others? Or does this only count as "trolling" when the person is a male or non-feminist? Does it matter whether the person has popular or unpopular opinions when it comes to deciding on a label?
???? CRK I was NOT talking about you. I was talking about the "feminist" person who posts answers like, "go F**k yourself". I’m sorry if it sounded like I was accusing you of anything, it was unintentional.
EDIT CRK: Um, that quote comes from Allegra’s question. Is she a clone? Honestly, I am VERY confused here. I’m sorry if I didn’t answer your email; it really wasn’t personal at all. The person I was referring to is a major bully and rountinly calls people names, insults them, etc.

There are specific activities associated with being a troll, yes.

There are many different types of troll, there’s a host of sub-categories.

Suffice to say it’s an old game – and all trolls can be categorized based on the types of attacks/responses, yes.

Will changing my MAC address remove the bandwidth limit?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I’m with robbers cable and I can understand that bandwidth capping was necessary BEFORE the days of blu ray and high definition material. I will like to see where robbers cable will go when the Playstation 4 comes out and HD becomes a true STANDARD! Enough of my rant now. Anyways, I read up that changing a MAC address is possible and there are plenty tutorials to do it. However, before I go through this I was wondering if changing my MAC address will get around this.

No changing your MAC address will not remove the bandwidth. The action of changing your mac address only help in disguising yourself after or before you do something. IF you were blocked at a particular website address and you obtain different IP addresses from a router…you may be able to gain access to what ever you were blocked from.

In the case of a bandwidth block…your bandwidth is determined by the ISP cross referencing the mac address of your cable/dsl modem’s mac address. IF you were to change it your mac address would be unidentified.
