How do the Cardinals "not deserve" to win the world series?

I have seen this comment made by multiple people. Could somebody please kindfully explain to me the logic and reasoning behind this? They made one of the greatest comebacks EVER. They beat the almighty Phillies and the extremely well built Brewers. This has truly been an amazing underdog story and I don’t see how people (besides Rangers, Reds, or Cubs fans) feel they do not deserve this and are hoping that they lose. In 2006, they DID NOT deserve the title. An 83 win team in the playoffs is pathetic. But this is a 90 win team, so that cannot be used as an excuse. Whew, rant mode off!
JimmyG I am guessing (and I may be wrong) that you are a cubs fan. If so, the hypocrisy of your statement that we are "arrogant and classless" is ridiculous. Cubs fans are the ones who typically start to do the trash talking in the rivalry. We are not labelled the "best fans in baseball" for nothing. We show respect and tolerance to other ballclubs like no other fans do, unless provoked otherwise (ie: Brandon Phillips). Are there some arrogant Cardinals fans out there? Sure. But that goes for every other teams’ fans as well.
We have the right to talk trash, you guys don’t. All of the Cub fans that I know start the arguments. And you are extremely ignorant if you have never heard Cardinal fans coined as the "best fans in baseball." Come talk to me when the Cubs are actually a contender. Until then, go ahead and keep crying, just because you are jealous that we year in and year out have confidence in our team.

Wow, some people are really stupid because that arugment makes no sense. If you win your division/wild card spot, win the NLDS, and then win the NLCS, you deserve to advance to the World Series. Howevr I have never heard of anyone saying this.

Maybe they say iut because the Rangers have never won the World Series and they feel that the Cardinals should not win since they have the second most amount of championships in MLB history.

I was saying that they deserved to win it before they even made it there… I wouldn’t mind seeing them win it, and I’m a Brewers fan. That says something.

Kind of seems like they deserve it to me.
Why are you ranting though. If my favorite team was winning the World Series I wouldn’t give a damn who said what I’d just be happy about it.

if you make the playoffs, you deserve to make the World Series. I think a lot of people are saying that because they only made the playoffs because the Braves collapsed. either way, they still had to win to make it in. if they go on to win the Series (which I think they’ll do in 7), they deserve every part of it.

I love how you call them the "almighty Phillies" :D but really PHL has never done good vs STL. they could have beat any other team easily. but the Cards deserve to win just as much as any other team.

and if ryan franklin hadnt blown 20 saves at the beginning of the season, theyd have been a 110 win team. If wainright hadn’t been injured in the spring, they could possibly have gotten the wins record. If if if. But yeah, tonight makes it clear, they deserve to be here

In my view, you make the exact same mistake! If a team WINS THE WORLD SERIES, THEY EARNED IT. 90 wins, 83 wins, doesn’t matter- they won.

They do deserve to win it. They crushed every team to get where they are. Some people might say they don’t deserve it for 1 of 3 things…

    1. They hate the Cardinals
    2. They’re jealous their team finished under .500
    3. The Cardinals didn’t do anything during the regular season

I’m not a fan of people saying a team doesn’t deserve to be there. However, they were beyond lucky to make the playoffs. They needed a team to have an epic collapse. It wasn’t like they had an incredible run (Colorado Rockies a few years back) to win it. The Braves lost it, but once you make it, you deserve to be there. The only exception is when a team has less wins than a team that doesn’t make it. It happens with Division winners in weak divisions that have 85 wins while the team missing the Wild Card has more wins. The Cardinals aren’t in that situation. The Braves collapsed, but the Cardinals had a better record than any other Wild Card team and earned that place.

They don’t deserve to win the World Series until they win four games. Same goes for the Rangers.

They are the Wild-Card and it seems unfair that a second place team can win it all

If the team plays well, the TEAM deserves to win…

But the classless arrogant cards fans deserve nothing.

‘Best fans in baseball"? Based on what? The way you trash talk us cubs fans all the time?

You guys always start the crap, so expect to get it back.

I am a Phillies fan and definitely think they deserve to win it. Before their season even started, they were already dealing with adversity as they lost Adam Wainwright, who last year finished second in NL Cy Young Award voting. Although almost every team has to deal with injuries, the Cards had to deal with injuries to key players. David Freese suffered a broken bone and missed over a month. Although Pujols recovered quickly, his injury was the 14th time the Cardinals used the disabled list this season for 12 different players. Also, they had issues with the bullpen throughout the season….which has done an amazing job so far in the playoffs. Finally, they had to erase a 10.5 game deficit to even make into the post-season. Basically, even though they beat my Phillies…I have great respect for the Cards and would love to see Lance Berkman finally get a ring. Unless you’re a Rangers fan, I don’t see how anyone can cheer against Lance who’s always been a class act.
